Coffee, Cake and a Cause Close to Our Hearts
The Bower Diaries: our Macmillan Coffee Morning at Bower House, Arden Lawn.
There's something about the smell of freshly brewed coffee and a table groaning with homemade cakes that brings people together. And that's exactly what happened at Bower House this week, when we opened our doors for our very first Macmillan Coffee Morning.
From half past ten, the kettle was on and the welcome was warm. Neighbours, friends, families and familiar faces from across Henley-in-Arden popped in, just as we'd hoped, with no appointment and no fuss. Just good company, great coffee and a morning well spent.
£240 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support
We're thrilled to share that together, we raised £240 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Almost all of us know someone whose life has been touched by cancer, and Macmillan's nurses, helplines and support services make a real difference to people at the moments they need it most. Every slice of cake and every cup poured helped play a small part in that, and we couldn't be prouder.
A table fit for a feast
The cake table was, quite frankly, a triumph. Generous slices of lemon drizzle, rich chocolate brownies, a tempting range of other bakes and a fine selection of biscuits kept everyone well fed and happily lingering over second cups. It was lovely to see conversations flowing just as freely as the coffee.
Meeting the Bower House community
As well as raising money for a brilliant cause, the morning was a wonderful chance for guests to look around the apartments, meet our team and get to know the growing community that's already making Bower House feel like home. There's a particular kind of warmth that comes from a place where people genuinely enjoy each other's company, and it was on full display.
